Instructions for 4.9 E-Learning

Before E-Learning...
In your groups,

  • decide on a sport
  • make a list of at most 10 well-known athletes in the sport
  • identify the athlete to do the write up on
  • decide who to work on the different slides in the PowerPoint Presentation

E-Learning (Day 1)

Task

1. Everybody must do a research to find out:
  • the required calories intake for the chosen athlete
  • food that builds muscles and strong bones
  • food that aids digestion
  • the effects of indigestion
2.  Based on your research, plan balanced meals for the athlete for 1 day.
3. Work on the slide that you have been assigned to
- Go to your group's message post.
- Open your group's PowerPoint using Google Chrome / Safari / Firefox browser
- Work on your assigned slide(s)
*You may refer to the Food Pyramid slides for more information
- Using information gathered based on your own research, share meaningful and constructive comments or suggestions about your friends' slide(s)

E-Learning (Day 2)

Upon receiving the feedback, make changes to your slide(s) accordingly.
You may wish to add slide transitions, music, change slide colours etc.

You will do a presentation with your group members when you return to school.

  1. Mrs Soon, how heavy must my athlete be and how far is he running? I need these info for finding the calories. Can you standardise it?

  2. Dear Jin Xin, I cannot answer that as your group needs to decide who the identified athlete is and once that is confirmed, you will naturally have to find out his age, weight and the races/distance he usually runs.

  3. Dear Mrs Soon, do we have to just write up on one athlete only?
