  9. Hi! I found these info for pages 8-9:
Foods containing calcium, such as dairy products, helps the body build strong, dense bones.
Strong, healthy muscles need both carbohydrates and protein. Carbohydrates help your muscles recover and become strong. Eating carbohydrate foods helps restore the glycogen in your muscles, helping them recuperate and grow. If you do not supply enough amino acids to your body by eating enough protein, your body will use up the protein in your muscles. Healthy sources of protein are lean meats, fish, non-fat yogurt, peanut butter and nuts.
A diet rich in fibre keeps your digestive system functioning properly. Not only does this mean you remain healthy, but that you also have energy to take you through your day without feeling tired. This type of food includes:
    •Whole Grains•Vegetables•Fruits•Nuts
Olive oil helps stimulate digestion and works wonders for an upset stomach.

  16. Hello everyone!
I think 4000 calories for an athlete is too much.Whoever is doing the slide,Please post the website that you got the information from and I think it is time to start planning our athlete's diet for each meal. What do you all think? Please reply to this question as soon as possible.
    Thanks.

    1. Nivetha I got the info from you!! You said earlier that a man needs 3000-5000 calories!! Anyway the web says that the number of calories depends on the distance the athlete runs.

      Delete
    2. Hello Jinxin!
I am also not so sure about the recommended calories. But most of the websites, says that an athlete should have 3000-5000 calories so I think it is best to leave it as 4000 calories. As the recommended calories is the same, lets start typing our athlete's diet in the chat box and then we(the four wonders) will decide which is the best. After that,me and Isaac will transfer it into the
      power point.
      Thanks.

  17. Hi all,
I've read info on "Nutrition Guide for the Athlete" from the web : www.extension.umn.edu/family/w00030.pdf.

There are formula to calculate the calories needed for athlete. I use an example of a male athlete weighted 80kg, he will need 3936 cal per day.

May I suggest we put a range of 3000-5000 calories as the daily requirements? Base on this range, we then work out the daily meal for the athlete.

  19. Dear Isaac,
oatmeal belongs to the rice and alternatives. You can refer to the "Food Pyramid Slides" in our class blog.

  20. Dear Nivetha,
I have already remove "Susan Koman" as I think she is not a runner. Did you spell the name correctly?

Shall we reduce the number of famous runners to 5 and include their nationality?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hello Zheng Yu!
I spelled the name of the runner correctly. Most likely,I think she is not as well-known as the other runners. And for the other question,Mrs Soon said that we at least need to type out 10
well-known runners so I do not think it will be a good idea to do like what you said.
    Thanks.

  26. Hello everyone!
I have typed out the chart for the dinner.
I think for the rest we can type it out after comments are
given on the idea.If there is one comment already, then we can start typing it out.You can continue typing out your comments on the charts. We are still able to make changes after we have typed it out.But please put your comments before Monday. And who would like to prepare the script for the presentation? I recommend Isaac does it as he is the one with the least number slides to type out. What do you say Isaac?
    Thanks.

  27. Hello Zheng Yu!
I think our athlete should eat more food for breakfast and lunch. The total calories taken for dinner is more than the calories he took for breakfast and lunch. If you think my suggestion is a good suggestion then please add two more types of food for each meal.
    Thanks.

I have changed the group members' names to another colour as the colour that you have chaged is not very visible.
I also added pictures for slide 4.

And by the way, anybody know where is Isaac?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi!
May I suggest to add more calories to the breakfast. Can Isaac add more calories to your food menu? See whether you can increase the calories for breakfast so that it is more than the dinner calories.

  34. Hello everyone!
Instead of adding more food items to the breakfast chart,we can change the food items. The changed food items should have large amounts of calories.Do you think my idea is good one?
Please reply as soon as possible as we do not have much time left.
And Zheng Yu,do you know where Jinxin and Isaac are?
They have not answering to any of my questions.

Does anybody over here knows which group does yogurt belongs to?
    Thanks.
    Regards.
    Nivetha

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hi Nivetha,
Yogurt belongs to the meat and alternatives group.
I have no objection to any changes made to the food slides.
Why not we lower the dinner calories by removing one or two food items and bring them to the breakfast menu so long the three meal calories add up to about 4000.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hi Nivetha,
Let's remove salmon from dinner slide.
put broccoli and asparagus together and named as vegetables for lunch slide. Add salmon to the lunch slide. this will help to increase calories for lunch. Do u think is ok?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi!
I have added pictures to the lunch slide.
You may just delete them if you do not like them.:)

  42. Dear Nivetha,Isaac and Jin Xin,
I have made changes to the lunch and dinner slides. Please take a look to see whether u are ok with them.

I suggest that Isaac does it has he had the least no.of slide to do for the powerpoint slide. But whoever who is going to do the script, should send a copy of the script to each of the group members lead Google Docs account so that everyone can make changes to the script.
